Our DLG V-Mount is sized for discus launch gliders. A V-mount is the perfect way to control a full-flying horizontal stabilizer, otherwise known as a stabilator.
The V portion of the mount wraps around the fuselage.
The bottom of our V legs is quite narrow, which shapes well to small round profiles and flattened profiles with about a .40" / 10 mm diameter or 5 mm radius.
To use this V-mount with larger diameter fuselage profiles, separate the V into two legs by slitting the bottom.
With the V separated into two legs, it is possible to very carefully heat and reshape the carbon legs to wrap around almost any shape. Use a heat gun on the area you want to shape, and definitely use aluminum foil to reflect heat away from the rest of the mount. Do this before attaching to the fuselage—do not heat the fuselage. Target temperature is 170°-180°F / 72° - 82°C. Once the V-mount is fitted, simply bond to the fuselage with epoxy.
